If you’ve seen my Instagram stories, you know that I “attend” yoga YouTube classes on Yoga with Adriene.
I love practicing yoga at home because I don’t feel pressured to meet everyone else’s pace. I also just love not leaving the apartment… Not to mention, Adriene is sweet, hilarious, and down-to-earth. She never forgets to remind you to take your time & not push yourself.
Honestly, sometimes I feel like she’s reading my mind. She’s so intuitive!
Adriene always says, “Showing up is the hardest part.” For me, showing up was hard, but choosing a video was the hardest. I’d sit on my mat and scroll through all her videos, fast-forwarding & saying, “Meh, I can’t do that pose” or “Ugh, not feeling it.” Eventually, I’d run out of time or push it off ’till later.
After a 5-year on-and-off relationship with Adriene, I finally found my go-to videos for every mood & situation. Now, showing up is the hardest part. But when I finally get on my mat, I know exactly where to go.
Don’t worry, you will too with my guide below. Click here for a FREE printable version!
Things to Remember if You’re Just Starting Out:
- You will get more flexible with time
- Listen to your body & don’t push yourself–you’re not weak for using a modified pose
- Let go of any expectation of your body or mind
- It’s normal to get frustrated, even if you’re supposed to be zen — again, NO expectations
If you’re feeling super motivated, I recommend doing her TRUE 30-day Yoga Journey! It was the first yoga challenge I was able to finish. I loved how it gradually built up, and the intentions we set every day were transformational!

Awe thanks!! Haha yeah, the poses in yoga are really intimidating. I finally got my bf to try yoga, and now he loves it! He literally couldn’t sit criss-cross before, and now he’s able to do most of the poses 🙂 it takes some time to gain flexibility!
You are amazing!! Thank you SO much for this guide because as much as I love Yoga With Adriene, I definitely spend about 10-12 minutes searching for the video that speaks to me (just about the same amount of time it takes for me to choose something to watch on Netflix)! Love this post and will definitely refer back to it!
